The 2MB ROMs on the Quadra 660AV and 840AV call _FlushFile after every _AddResource, _ChangeResource, _RmveResource or _SetResAttr trap (and maybe others).  This introduces tremendous disk overhead for a very small margin of safety.  "AV Boost" patches out the _FlushFile trap and does nothing when the call is made from the Resource Manager's _vStdExit routine.  My tests show a factor of two speedup in MPW when Linking or Rez'ing when "AV Boost" is installed.
